What to Look for in a Pair of Heated MittensIf you live in a cold or polar climate, you’ll know that it can be challenging to stay warm throughout the winter. Cold hands can be particularly bothersome, especially if you suffer from any ailments such as arthritis or strained or pained joints in your hands, then heated gloves can work well at providing some relief. There’s a lot to look out for in a good pair of heated gloves. It can be hard to determine which is the right pair for you, but by looking into what properties to look out for can help to narrow down your choice. Features such as material, warmth, dexterity, waterproofness, breathability, battery-life, and touch screen capability all make for a good pair of heated gloves.
MaterialHeated gloves come in a variety of different materials, including fleece, leather, polyester, leather, lambskin, and sheep leather. A good pair of heated gloves should keep your hands warm, whatever the weather conditions. The outer layer of the glove should be tough and solid so that the gloves can withstand damage and harsh conditions. It’s also beneficial for the outer material to be waterproof, so your hands don’t get wet if you’re using a pair of gloves in wet or damp conditions. The inside of gloves should be comfortable and soft on your hands, although you want your gloves to be tough, you still want to be comfortable when you’re wearing the gloves. Look for gloves that are fleece lined and breathe easily. If the material is breathable, then your hands won’t overheat or sweat if they get too hot.
Heating SettingsWhen you’re looking at a pair of heated gloves, it’s always worth looking at the heating settings that the gloves use. Most of the gloves that we looked at have three different heat settings (high, medium, and low), and this choice is a good variety that will help to keep your hands comfortably warm in different weather conditions. For ease of use, look for a pair of gloves where you can easily control the temperature. This can usually be done by pressing the on/off button located on the gloves; some gloves require a temperature control remote that is usually sold separately. The heat settings on the gloves usually mean that they’ll keep your hands warm even in very cold conditions. Keep an eye out for how long the battery will last on each heat setting; this will help make sure you have the gloves charged sufficiently before usage.
What Will You Be Using the Gloves For?Before you jump in and buy a pair of gloves, you need to think about what you’ll be using them for. Gloves such as the Sun Will heated gloves are designed to fit underneath an existing pair of gloves to provide an extra layer of warmth. These kind of gloves are lightweight, and perfect if you’re looking for an easy to wear, light pair of gloves for recreational activities such as hiking trips, cycling in cold weather. If you need gloves for more heavy-duty activities such as outdoor manual work, or motorcycle riding, then it’s best to get a pair of more durable gloves. Gloves such as the Begleri heated gloves are thick and can withstand temperatures of up to -95 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes them perfect for outdoor sports such as skiing or snowboarding but also motorcycle riding and some forms of manual work. Whichever type of activity you plan on undertaking, having a pair of durable heated gloves will help to keep your hands warm during the activity, and the enjoyment of the activity won’t be ruined by sore hands or painful joints.
Pain ReliefOne of the best offerings of heated gloves is that they can provide an effective aid against painful and sore hands. In winter, it can be harder for blood to circulate around the body and hands as easily as it does than in other times of the year. The winter weather may leave your hands feeling stiff, achy, and this can be particularly unpleasant if you have any kind of arthritis. Heated gloves help to improve circulation, reduce pain, increase flexibility, and will keep your hands feeling strong and mobile in winter conditions. If you’re going to be outside in particularly cold conditions and you suffer from any kind of ailment in your hands, then it’s vital that you keep them warm and the blood circulating correctly.
Warranty and CareIt’s always worth seeing if the gloves you’re buying have some kind of warranty included with them that will cover the gloves should anything go wrong. Alongside the warranty you’ll also want to make sure that you keep the gloves clean regularly, different gloves have different cleaning guidelines. Many heated gloves can’t be machine washed as a washing machine can cause damage to the heating elements within the gloves. Make sure you check the manufacturer’s cleaning recommendations and follow them closely to avoid damaging the gloves. Using a brush or hand washing the gloves regularly is usually sufficient to keep most gloves clean and in good condition.

Whether you’re experienced or brand new to fishing, there is a fishing line that’s right for you, and in this guide, we’ll explore some of the best braided fishing lines available and go into what you should look for in a braided fishing line. There are plenty of different fishing lines to choose from, so making sure you know what lookout for is imperative when you’re making a choice.
The Best Fishing Line on the Market: KastKingOur Winner: KastKing (5/5) Our pick for the best braided fishing line is KastKing superpower braided fishing line. KastKing is one of the leading companies in the market for fishing lines. The fishing line comes in five different colors, you can pick from Low-Vis Gray, Moss Green, Multi-Color, Ocean Blue and Yellow, so there’s a color to suit everyone. The different colors also help to increase the visibility of the line when it’s in the water so that you can spot it easily.
KastKing SuperPower Braided Fishing Line - Abrasion Resistant Braided Lines – Incredible Superline – Zero Stretch – Smaller Diameter – A Must-Have!
It has a strong knot strength, which is fitted with dynamically incorporated strands in Casting Superpower braided lines that allow you to tie a more solid knot easily. KastKing uses four strands of polyethylene material in its weave, which results in an ultra-strong fishing line; this does switch to eight strands of polyethylene when the braid is over 65 pounds. The weave is wrapped very tightly, giving the fishing line a smaller diameter than some of its counterparts. KastKing uses a proprietary treatment process that helps the line slip through the guides of your rod; this makes equipping the fishing line to your rod an easy, user-friendly process. The Dyneema strands that KastKing use are highly resistant to abrasion, which means that the chance of the line being cut by a rock or sharp object is very low. This fishing line is perfect for anyone that is looking for a fishing line with a high-knot strength and doesn’t stretch easily. The KastKing braided line also has low memory, which helps with achieving better, longer casts with less chance for wind knots to develop. KastKing has done a great job with this braided fishing line, the material is tough, it comes in a wide range of colors, and we’d highly recommend it to any fishing enthusiast.
The Stealthiest Braided Fishing Line: SpiderWireThe SpiderWire stealth superline braid fishing line comes in a variety of different colors, ranging from blue to pink camo. This fishing line has been uniquely covered for bluewater lakes and saltwater conditions. The stealth braid is constructed to provide ultimate strength with the thinnest diameter for smooth and quiet performance.
SpiderWire Stealth Superline Braid Fishing Line
Just like the KastKing, the strands used in SpiderWire fishing line are made from Dyneema, which is one of the world’s strongest fibers. A little known fact about Dyneema is that it’s also used in some of the strongest bulletproof vests and heavy machinery around, which signifies the strength of the line. Dyneema is known to be highly abrasion resistant, so the SpiderWire line will last for a long time. The strength of the fibers makes the SpiderWire a popular choice among anglers for baitcaster fishing. You can use the SpiderWire stealth braid line for everything from frog-fishing, jiggling, drop-shotting, and even for live bait rigs for Pike, Catfish, Crappie or Walleye. As the name suggests, this line is very quiet, which makes it great for catching fish in a silent, but deadly manner.
The Strongest Braided Fishing Line: PowerProThe PowerPro braided fishing line is one of the leading fishing lines on the market today. This line comes in a few different colors: red, green, yellow, and white. The line is braided with four strands; each is composed of scores of exceptionally thin Spectra fibers. Each strand is coated, which gives the strands a harder, thinner profile. The PowerPro line is extremely strong and durable, but we did notice that the color of the line began to fade, the more we used it, and the more the line rubbed against the rod.
Power Pro Spectra Fiber Braided Fishing Line
You can use this line for many different types of fishing, including freshwater and saltwater fishing, and many different types of knot can be used, with the Palomar being the most common. The Uni knot can also be good to use; this is an extremely strong type of knot. Regardless of which type of knot you tie it’s a good idea to pass the line through the eye twice before tying the knot to get the strongest knot possible. Casting with this line is excellent because of the round design and super smooth qualities of the line. When you’re casting the line, close the bail by hand, and this will stop around 90% of problems you’ll face when casting your line. The PowerPro was developed to be an extremely tough line without sacrificing on quality. This line does a great job whether you’re using it for saltwater or freshwater fishing.
The Multi-Colored Fishing Line: Berkley Fire LineWith a diameter of just 0.005 inches, the Berkley FireLine is uniquely thin in its diameter. Despite the thin diameter, this fishing line is three times stronger than a monofilament fishing line. It has very low visibility and is very smooth when you’re casting the line. The fishing line is made from Dyneema fiber braids which make the line smooth and round, while also being durable and tough.
Berkley FireLine Superline Fishing Line
The Dyneema fiber braids make the FieLine fishing line less abrasive than most traditional braids, so it won’t cut your hand when you’re cinching knots or doing anything else with the fishing line. The small diameter of the line makes it more resistant to the wind, and even on really breezy days, you’re able to skip baits under docks and other hardcover without your accuracy being affected by the wind. The toughness of the line makes wind knots virtually non-existent, and it stays very compact on the spool even if you make a bad cast. The line is very tough, easy to use, and has everything you need in a high-quality braided fishing line.
Japan's Finest Braided Fishing Line: DaiwaJapan’s leading braided fishing line is the Daiwa J-Braid woven round braid line. The Daiwa line doesn’t stretch and has high linear strength and high abrasion resistance. This fishing line comes in eight to sixty-five-pound tests. The line has a perfectly round profile and is made from eight strands of fiber, which are tightly woven to make this fishing line particularly strong. We noticed that the line was particularly abrasion-resistant and didn’t break or come apart when it came into contact with any sharp objects such as rocks.

The high abrasiveness of this line makes it suitable for deep-sea fishing as well as other freshwater types of fishing. The first few times we used the line, we found that it would over spool and come off easily and was a little slippery. As we got more used to the line, we found that the line would cast with precision and accuracy. Sometimes when you pick up a new braid line, it can take some time to get used to, so be aware of this when you’re picking up a new line. The surface of the line is very smooth, which means you can cast the line to a great distance; it’s very accurate and ultra-flexible. If you’re new to fishing, then this line may take a bit of getting used to, but it’s highly worth it once you’re comfortable, and the line makes for a great fishing experience.

The line comes in a variety of different colors ranging from blue camouflage to timber brown. The line is made from 100% UHMWPE, which is often rated as one of the world’s strongest fibers. The line has a relatively small diameter, which is good for not scaring fish away.

The Braided Line Best For Spinning Reels: Sufix 832Made with R8 Precision Braiding and Fiber Technology, the Sufix 382 is one of the strongest braided fishing lines on the market today. The strong fibers give the fishing line superior strength, roundness, and line consistency. The line is neatly wrapped and neatly organized. It’s got right fibers in total, seven of them being made from Dyneema and one being made from gore. These fibers are very resistant to abrasions, which means the line won’t fray or damage easily. We really like the addition of the gore fiber; gore is a hydrophobic fiber meaning that it naturally repels water.
Sufix 832 Braid 20 lb Low-Vis Green 300 yards
The line comes in a few different colors: coastal camo, ghost (white), hi-vis and low vis green, hi-vis yellow, and neon lime. All of these colors will show up in the water, so the line is clearly visible in the water. Sufix has used TPG technology to improve bright color retention in their line, so the colors will stay brighter for longer than most typical braided lines. We had zero problems with this line, Sufix has done a great job investing in quality materials to make this product, and it makes all the difference. The line is easy to use, made from tough materials, and one thing we really liked is that the color of the line doesn’t fade easily. Some of the braided lines which come in bright colors fade easily after a short period of time, so it’s great to see a line that retains its color.
The UV Proof Braided Fishing Line: MounchainMounchain’s braided fishing line comes in a selection of four different colors; you can choose from dark or light green, sea blue, and yellow. What Are Braided Fishing Lines?Braided fishing lines were one of the earliest types of line, and they remain very popular among anglers today. The main thing anglers like in braided lines are high knot strengths, lack of stretch, and a line that is highly resistant to abrasion. Braided lines are also preferable for deep sea fishing as it is much easier to fit a braided line on a spool than a monofilament or fluorocarbon line. Braided lines are traditionally very flexible and can be easier to cast long distances than other lines. One drawback to braided lines is that they are usually clearly visible in the water. This can be an advantage if you like a lien that is easy to see but can be a drawback as braided lines are then easier for fish to view.
Benefits of Braided Fishing LinesThere are plenty of benefits to braided fishing lines and lots of reasons why every angler should consider using one. One of the first benefits is that braid fishing lines have little to no stretch; this makes braided fishing lines perfect for deep water fishing. Braided fishing lines allow you to feel bites in incredibly deep waters, while also being suitable for other types of fishing. A good braid line will also last a long time. When you purchase a high-quality braid line, you won’t have to think about buying another one anytime soon. Most braided lines are highly resistant to sharp objects or rock, which means they don’t break easily. This is essential if you’re going to be using a line for deepwater fishing as you don’t want one breaking easily. Most lines come in a variety of different colors so you can choose a color to suit you and make sure that it’s easy to spot in the water. The color of a high-quality braided line shouldn’t fade quickly, some cheaper, lower-quality lines may lose their color after only a few uses. A high-quality braided fishing line should last for a long time, and this is usually the case if the fibers on the reel are made from strong materials such as Dyneema or UHMWPE. So make sure to keep an eye out on the material that the line is made from when you’re making a purchase.
What to Look for in the Best Braid Fishing Line?As we mentioned earlier in this guide, our favorite braided fishing line is the KastKing super-powered braided fishing line. It contains everything you need in a high-quality braided fishing line. There’s a range of colors to choose from, and you can easily spot the line in the water. The knot strength is strong, it doesn’t break easily and is built to last.
What Is the Best Line for a Baitcaster?Baitcaster lines can be a little bit intimidating for a lot of anglers, especially those that are new to the world of fishing. The good news is that with a bit of practice, baitcasters aren’t too difficult to use. Once again, the best line we used for a bait caster is the KastKing. Braided lines are often referred to as the best lines for baitcaster fishing, so it makes sense that the KastKing would come out on top. The KastKing has extremely low memory, which helps tremendously with lure presentation and retrieval as well as casting. Another thing that anglers look out for with baitcaster fishing is how resistant a line is to sharp objects such as rocks, tree roots, and other objects that are common underwater. The KastKing line is made with Dyneema strands, which are highly resistant to abrasion, making it perfect for baitcaster fishing.
What Is the Best Line for Bass Fishing? For bass fishing, anglers typically use monofilament, braid or fluorocarbon lines. The good thing about using a braid line for bass fishing is that braid lines feature an extremely strong profile with virtually no stretch, which makes them much more sensitive to bites. Monofilament lines are great for beginner anglers as they are very castable and can be tied with little to no difficulty. Some anglers will go for fluorocarbon lines as they are virtually invisible in the water due to them having the same light refraction as the water. There’s a lot of choices when it comes to choosing the best line for bass fishing, so if you’re unsure, it may be worth seeking the advice of a professional, particularly if you’re a beginner angler looking for some guidance.
Best Fishing Line for Spinning ReelsBraided lines are particularly good for spinning reels. Braided lines can usually be cast very far, they are typically made from very strong, well-engineered fibers like Dyneema or gore, which makes braided lines tough, but also smooth and easy to handle. When these properties are combined with a smaller diameter, you have a line that you can effortlessly launch your baits with. If you’re looking for a braided line for your spinning reel, make sure the one you choose is easy to cast. Out of the braided lines, we tested the KastKing, Sufix 832, or the Spiderwire Stealth Braid were all pretty effortless to cast, meaning all three braided lines are perfect for spinning reels.
Choose the Best Braided Line for YouOur Winner: KastKing (5/5) As you can see, there is a lot to consider when you’re making a choice about what braided fishing line to go for. All of the lines we tested were high-quality, which is great news if you’re unsure which line to go for. If you’re brand new to braid lines, then it may be worth getting the advice of a pro from your local fishing or tackle shop to make sure you get the best-braided line for your budget and needs. Make sure the line you go for is made from high-quality materials, is easy to use, and is suitable for the type of fishing you want to use it for. Our top recommendation for the best braided fishing line would be the KingKast line. KingKast is one of the leading companies on the market, and they’ve produced a braided line that is tough, abrasion-resistant, and perfect for every angler to use.

The post The Ultimate Guide to the Best Braided Fishing Lines for Every Angler appeared first on ITIShooting. from https://itishooting.com/best-braided-fishing-line/ Measuring your draw length is not a difficult process, but it is one that requires patience and a willingness to learn to get right. Knowing how to measure your draw length will ensure that the bow you select for use is the right size for you and is comfortable to use. If you get these things right with a bow, you’ll be able to enjoy maximum power in your shots, which will also help you get the most enjoyment out of using a bow. In archery, there are two types of draw length: your own personal draw length and the draw length of the bow you’re shooting. Your own draw length is unique to you and is dependent on your physical size, and your draw length can change as you grow. The methods we’ll lay out in this guide are very easy to follow, and all you’ll need is another person to help you out and a tape measure. Both of these methods can be followed if you’re a beginner archer or if you’re an experienced bowman. How to Measure Draw Length at HomeNow you know some of the reasons why it’s important to measure draw length, let’s take a look at a couple of methods of doing it from the comfort of your own home.
Measuring the WingspanOne of the most well-known methods of measuring draw length is known as measuring the wingspan, which makes sense as in using this method, you’ll be measuring the distance between your outstretched arms. To do this, you’ll need to stand up against a wall, make sure your back is facing the wall and outstretch your arms to make a ‘T-shape’ and ensure that your fingers are also outstretched. Have someone place a marker on the wall where your fingertips end and measure your arm span from fingertip to fingertip. This is best done with a tape measure, and this should give you an accurate result of the distance between your fingertips. Make sure that you’re standing up straight and that your posture is good. When you have the measurement, you’ll need to divide it by 2.5. For example, if the measure you take is 56,” and you divide this by 2.5, the draw length would be 22.4″. Often it’s best to round the measurement to the nearest half a centimeter so the draw length, in this case, would be 22.5″. This process is very simple, and you don’t need to overcomplicate it. With this method, you’ll just need to have someone who is willing to lend a hand and a tape measure, and with these two things, you’re ready to go!
The Pretend Draw MethodThe second method of measuring draw length is the pretend draw method. This method is less commonly used than the first method we spoke about but will still require a tape measure and the assistance of another person. For this method, you’ll need to stand as though you’re holding a bow. Draw one arm back, and as far as it will go and make a fist with your other hand. You may want to put your fist on a wall so that it doesn’t sag or drop. Make sure that your back arm is drawn back past your mouth as this resembles you pulling back a bowstring. Keep your eye forward as if you are aiming and ask someone to measure the top of your fist to the corner of your mouth, and this measurement will give you the draw length.
Things to Remember When Measuring Draw LengthBoth of these methods of measuring draw length are very simple to do. But there are some other things you should consider when measuring draw length. Let’s take a look at some of these things.
PostureOne of the first is posture, when you’re standing against a wall with your arms stretched, make sure your posture is straight, and your shoulders are pressed firmly against the wall. Keep your arms and fingers straight and hold your arms at right angles to your body. If your shoulders are hunched over when you take a measurement, then the chances are the measurement won’t be accurate. Following these steps and keeping a proper posture will ensure the measurement of your draw length is accurate.
Double and Triple Check Your MeasurementsAs mentioned in the first method, you should also round the measurement to the nearest ½ inch; this will give you an indication of what size bow you need. When you take a measurement, make sure to double or triple check it to make sure it’s accurate. If you’re unsure about any particular measurement, then don’t hesitate to head down to a bow shop for further guidance.
Seek Professional HelpIf you’re attempting to measure draw length and your running into some problems, then it might be worth taking a trip down to your local archery shop. A professional will be able to help you take the measurements needed and clarify any questions you may have about draw length. They’ll also be able to give you recommendations on the type of bow that’ll be right for you and your experience level. The good thing is that both of the methods laid out in this guide are very easy to follow. As mentioned above, if you’re new to archery, then seeking the advice of a professional may be necessary, but if you have a friend or family member or you know someone who already takes part in archery, then they should be able to help you measure the draw length. Once you know your draw length, you’ll be able to make a decision on what kind of bow is right for you, and you get going on your archery adventure! The post Ever Wanted to Know How to Fire an Arrow? The point of the broadhead is very sharp; it will cut on impact. After the broadhead lands, the blades located just behind the tip of the broadhead open up and will cause further damage to the target it hits. The broadhead is specifically designed for crossbows and flies like a field tip and gives the hunter a clear advantage over the game they are hunting. We were very impressed with this broadhead; we didn’t head out game hunting, but when used on targets, the flight of the broadhead was very good, and it penetrates deeply. The inch cut of the broadhead really will cause serious damage to whatever your shooting at. Muzzy Broadheads New Muzzy Trocar Crossbow 125 Grain 3 Blade with Offset Blade Design (3-Pack)
The side blades will remain closed before the broadhead comes into contact with its target, which is great as it means the broadhead works just as it’s intended to. Each side blade has a thickness of .035 inches, which is the standard diameter for side blades on this type of broadhead. The rearward deploying blades on the broadhead give it a massive 2-8 inch cutting surface. This size of cutting surface makes the broadhead particularly deadly when it comes into contact with an animal. This size of cutting surface means the broadhead is particularly useful for bringing down game such as deer or other mid-sized game. The tip of the broadhead is made from hardened steel, so it won’t sustain damage easily and won’t need replacing often. The blades on these broadheads have a cut on contact design, which means they’ll do a lot of damage to the target they hit. The broadheads fly through the air well and are very aerodynamic and will hit the target you’re aiming at with precision.
Crossbow Broadhead FAQ’sNow that we’ve taken a look at some of the different crossbow broadheads on the market today, let’s look at some of the common questions you may have when it comes to broadheads.
What Should Be Used to Screw on Broadheads? There are three main ways to screw on broadheads. The first is called ‘riveting in,’ and all you need is a broadhead wrench and a special screw. Once you have the equipment, you can easily attach the broadhead to your bow. Usually, you will get a guide book with whatever broadhead you purchase which will show you how to screw it on properly. A second method is tying the broadhead to the shaft section of the bow/crossbow you’re using, but this method isn’t advised unless you really have no other choice. The third method is gluing your broadhead onto the arrow, this can be done with hot or cold glue.
What Is the Only Arrowhead That May Be Used for Big Game Hunting? The best and only type of arrowhead that should be used for big game hunting is the broadhead. Broadheads are usually razor-sharp and are built solidly enough to be able to bring down big game.
Where Should Broadheads Be Kept While Traveling to and From the Field?Broadheads should be kept in your quiver when you’re traveling to and from the field. Many arrow injuries occur while loading or unloading equipment in vehicles, so to minimize any chance of injury or accident occurring, keep broadheads in a quiver whenever you’re not firing them.
What’s the Difference Between Mechanical and Fixed Blade Broadheads? The biggest clue to knowing the difference between the different types of broadheads is in the name. Fixed blade broadheads are fixed in place and do not have any moving parts. This allows for greater penetration as there will be less force lost when the arrow hits its target. The biggest downside to fixed blade broadheads is in their aerodynamics and flight path. Since there is a greater surface area exposed with a fixed blade broadhead, many hunters may find their shots are inconsistent without a well-tuned bow. Mechanical broadheads, on the other hand, solve this problem due to having side blades attached, which act as wings when the broadhead is flying through the air. These side blades solve the flight problem that fixed blade broadheads can suffer from as they stay tucked into the head until impact when they then open up. The downside to mechanical broadheads is that they are less durable than fixed blade broadheads. As they have more parts, then there is more of a chance that something can go wrong and a higher chance that a piece of the broadhead can break or that the side blades don’t open correctly upon impact. Mechanical broadheads are usually more expensive than fixed blade broadheads, so this can be a factor in deciding which type of broadhead to go for.
Should I use Mechanical or Fixed Blade Broadheads? The decision over which type of broadhead you should use will come down to what you’re using them for. If you’re just getting into bow/crossbow shooting, then you fixed blade broadheads may well be the better choice as they are cheaper and have fewer parts, and this can be useful as you get comfortable with bow shooting. If you’re a bit more of an experienced hunter and you’re looking to use a broadhead that is going to cause the maximum amount of damage, then consider using a mechanical broadhead. Mechanical broadheads can be particularly useful if you’re going to be hunting larger game that will require greater impact and damage to kill.
Which Broadhead Is Right for You?Our Winner: Rage Crossbow X (5/5) If you have the budget, then it’s worth having a go with both types of broadheads. The truth is most hunters will have preference over which type of broadhead they prefer, and it can be a very individual decision and depend on if you’re comfortable using crossbows or if you’re just getting started. If you’re looking for a broadhead to go for your crossbow, we’d recommend the Rage Crossbow X. This broadhead is razor sharp, accurate and has all the attributes you need to look for in a high-quality broadhead.

What to Look for in a Progressive Reload Press? One of the first things you want to look out for is the quality of the materials that have been used to build the progressive reloading press. Progressive reload presses due to their expense are usually made from high-quality materials. Take a look at the material of the base on the reloading press; if it’s made from solid steel or cast iron, then you’ll know that the base is built to last and is durable. You’ll also want to make sure that the handle on your press is easy to hold and comfortable in your hand, if you’re going to be pulling a handle hundreds of times, then you need it to be comfortable. If the handle is uncomfortable, then you’ll soon grow frustrated with using the press, and the whole process will be unenjoyable.
Kits and AccessoriesAnother thing to consider is how experienced you are with reloading as a whole. You may have never used a press before, or you may have used a single press. If you’re starting out then, it may be worth considering buying a kit as these contain everything you need to get started with reloading. This is particularly true if you’re going to need to get used to all of the different parts that come with a kit. Both of the kits we reviewed come with extensive setup guides so you can get accustomed to how they work. In the long run, it’s far more cost-effective to buy a kit than it is to buy a press individually and then buy the accessories separately, so consider this when you’re making a purchase.
How to Maintain a Progressive Reloading PressReloading presses, in general, are built to last, but that doesn’t mean maintenance and care aren’t important. One of the first steps you can take is to make sure the ram is lubed sufficiently. Most reloading presses come with a tube of lube, so look out for this when you’re deciding which press to go for. Wiping lubricant on the ram and the links and pivots will help to make the whole process of using the press smoother. Lubricant will also help to stop any dirt or crud from building up in the press; this helps to keep it running smoothly and ensures the press doesn’t become damaged. Make sure you keep an eye on how well your press is feeding primers. It might be that you need to disassemble the priming system for every couple of thousands of rounds you put through it. By cleaning it, clearing any dust, and keeping it lubricated. By doing this, the priming system will remain in working order. Alongside the priming system, make sure to keep an eye on the trough or plate that the shells move in and be sure to keep it clear. If you follow these steps, then your reloading press will remain in great shape.
Who Makes the Best Progressive Reloading Presses? When you begin to look into the market for progressive reloading presses, you’ll soon discover that a few companies dominate the market. Lee, Hornady, and RCBS are leading brands of reloading presses. Each of these brands has been around for many years, and have displayed their quality by producing top-rated products. Progressive reloading presses, when made from quality materials, will last for a long time, and purchasing a reloading press should be viewed as an investment, so take your time before deciding which press is best for you.
The Final Round-UpDeciding which progressive reloading press is best for you is an individual decision to make. This guide should hae given you some insight into the best ones available on the market today, but to decide on which progressive reloading press is best for you will depend on your budget and level of experience with reloading. If you’re looking for a good place to start then consider picking up the LEE PRECISION Classic Turret Press Kit, it has everything you need to get started with reloading but is also suitable for the experienced shooter.

Why Should You Use a Concealed Carry Backpack? There are several reasons you should use a concealed carry pack. The main reason is that they are multi-purpose. They are more robust than ordinary backpacks and built to last in challenging conditions. As we’ve seen with the packs we’ve reviewed, concealed carry packs can be used to transport firearms to and from the range safely; they are big enough to use for multi-day trips and other survival situations.
Finding The Backpack That Is Right For YouAs concealed carry backpacks are multi-purpose, you should think about what you’ll be using one for before you buy. Some of the packs we reviewed are designed more for daily use, such as the Red Rock Outdoor Gear sling pack and the Maxpedition Sitka Gearslinger while others such as the 5.11 Tactical Military Backpack and the Condor 3 Day Assault Pack are designed for military operations and multi-day survival trips. Backpacks with designated gun holders will conceal your firearms from view completely, most backpacks with holders will carry up to 3 or 4 pistols so you can transport multiple firearms if you want to. Remember, a concealed carry backpack will be primarily designed to keep you safe, so any firearms you carry should be safely and securely stored away and out of sight.
What to Look For in a Good Concealed Carry BackpackA good concealed carry backpack should be able to hold a lot of items. Look out for how many compartments a backpack has, and it’s liter capacity, this will give you a good indication of how much a backpack can hold. You should also make sure the backpack comes with a warranty; this will ensure your backpack is secure should anything happen to it. The backpack should be made out of tough material and should feel durable to the touch. Thankfully all the backpacks and sling packs we looked at were durable and will last for a long time, providing you care for them correctly. The zippers on a pack should be easy to use and not break easily; if a zipper breaks easily, this is a sign of a low-quality backpack. If you’re going to be transporting firearms in a concealed carry backpack, then make sure they fit securely into your pack. This will ensure they are safe when you’re transporting them and minimize the chances of an accident occurring.
Types of concealed carry backpacksThe main types of concealed carry backpacks to choose from are military/tactical packs, multi-day packs, and sling packs. Sling packs are easy to use and easy to carry. Backpacks can usually carry more equipment than a sling pack. Military-style packs are designed for more rugged, outdoor activities, while multi-day packs are designed to carry a lot of equipment so that they can carry everything you’ll need for a multi-day expedition. You even have experience carrying a gun holster in an ordinary backpack, but a concealed carry backpack is a safer and more efficient way of doing this.
Time to Buy a Concealed Carry Backpack? Our Winner: Case Club (5/5) A concealed carry backpack is a great option if you’re looking for a safe and secure way to transport your firearms. Make sure to keep an eye out for how much a backpack can carry and think about what you’ll be using one for. In our opinion, The best all-rounder backpack we came across is the Case Club backpack, and it has everything you need in a high-quality concealed carry backpack and will last you for years to come!

What Should You Look for in a Trail Camera? As you can see, high-quality trail cameras have a few specific traits among all of them. One of the first things to look at is the megapixel quality of the camera, the higher the megapixel, the higher quality image will be taken. Most trail cams will allow you to choose the level of megapixels that you want to use to take an image. You may also want to consider the quality of the video that a camera will shoot. All of the cameras we reviewed will shoot video in HD, giving you clear and crisp video footage of any animal activity that the camera notices. When choosing a camera, take into consideration the distance of how long a camera will notice an animal form; most cameras will detect animal activity around 65 feet. The general rule of thumb to follow is that the higher the price for a trail camera then the higher quality image it will take. Another consideration to make when you’re looking for a camera to buy is whether it comes with a strap or some screws or a device so you can mount the camera in a permanent location if you want to. Personally, we liked the cameras that come with both options; a strap gives you the flexibility if you’re going to be moving your camera to different locations on a regular basis while putting a camera in a permanent location is useful if you want a camera for just one singular location.
How Do Trail Cameras Work? Most trail cameras are very simple in the way they work. Most of the trail cameras on the market today are fully digital, and all the ones we reviewed are. Digital trail cameras work by switching on when an animal or person enters the frame of the shot. An infrared sensor detects any activity from humans or animals on most digital trail cameras, and the camera is then activated and will take a still image or record a video. On most cameras, you’ll find an LCD screen which will let you jump in and configure the settings to your own liking. On many cameras, you’ll be able to choose from camera or video mode, and a lot of the cameras will even take a series of photos for you in a short space of time. If a trail camera has wifi or cellular capabilities in-built, then it will be able to send photos and videos directly to your phone and sometimes your computer. Most trail cameras store images and videos through utilizing an SD card or micro SD card. If a trail camera doesn’t have wifi or cellular capabilities, then you’ll be able to transfer all the data by plugging in the SD card into your phone or computer or using a USB cable. Every trail camera we looked at is battery powered, usually requiring 8 AA batteries to function. With some cameras, you can buy a rechargeable power pack separately, and this can be a more cost-effective way to power the camera than continuously having to replace the batteries.
The Best Trail Camera That Will Send Pictures to Your PhoneOur Winner: Campark Trail Camera (5/5) Hopefully, by now you have an idea of what you should look for in a trail camera. Good trail cameras can be multi-purpose, a lot of hunters will use them for tracking animal activity, but they can also double up as security cameras, so always consider what you want a trail camera to be used for before buying one. Alongside the use of the trail camera, you’ll also want to consider how much you want to spend. Also, consider whether you’ll be using a camera to take images or capture video, most cameras do record video, but it’s always worth checking before you make a purchase. If you want your camera to send photos and videos to your phone automatically, then consider purchasing a camera with a cellular network built-in. The post Looking for a Trail Camera? Here Are the Best Trail Cameras That Send Pictures to Your Phone appeared first on ITIShooting. from https://itishooting.com/trail-cameras-that-send-pictures-to-your-phone/ When you first hear the term saddle hunting, you may imagine a rider on horseback firing an arrow from his bow. The modern form of saddle hunting is a little bit different from this and involves being in a saddle in a tree. Saddle hunting is a form of hunting where you use a saddle to hold you in an elevated position during your hunt. This saddle will be placed in a tree and gives you an aerial advantage over the game you’re attempting to hunt. Saddle Hunting used to be a very niche activity to take part in, but over the past few years, it’s become increasingly popular with hunters and more and more mainstream. It’s a great thing to do if you’re looking to try something new or to expand on your existing hunting skills. In this guide, we’ll explore what equipment you need to get started with saddle hunting, what the benefits are and whether saddle hunting is right for you. When Did Saddle Hunting Begin? While the specific date that tree saddles and saddle hunting first originated is a little hard to track down, it’s thought that their use began in the 1960s. As they are a fairly simple design, tree saddles may well have been in use before this date. Hunting saddles became increasingly popular in the 1980s. Some of the most popular brands came about in the 1980s, such as Trophyline Saddles. Tree saddles have continued to grow in popularity ever since, with their mobility and flexibility proving particularly popular amongst mobile hunters.
What Equipment Do You Need to Use?To get started with saddle hunting, you only need a few pieces of equipment. First, you’ll need a saddle, the saddle will cradle your posterior and will support your weight while you’re in the tree. Usually, a saddle will have a pair of loops on either side; on one side, you’ll see smaller loops for a lineman’s belt, and on the other side, you’ll see larger loops for the bridge. To make sure you’re safe when you head out saddle hunting, you’ll need a platform if you plan on standing up at any point when you’re in the saddle. You’ll also need a tether, a lineman’s belt, a bridge, a carabiner, and some safety gear such as kneepads and an appropriate hunting outfit.
Saddle Hunting GearIt’s important you have the right equipment when you set out saddle hunting, as this will help to keep you safe and prevent the risk of injury. Most manufacturers of tree saddles create their saddles to be able to withstand more than 5,000 pounds of breaking strength, and most ropes used for lineman’s belts, tethers, and bridges are rated to stand at least 6,000 pounds of weight.

What Are the Benefits of Tree Saddle Hunting?Once you’ve got safety taken care of, you can begin to enjoy some of the many benefits of tree saddle hunting. If you’ve never used one, then it might take you some time to get used to, but once you do, a world of opportunity will open up. Let’s explore some of the benefits and reasons to try tree saddle hunting.
MobilityOne of the main advantages that tree saddle hunting gives you is mobility; you can generally use a tree saddle on any type of tree, providing you can safely attach the saddle and harness to it. Traditional tree hunting where you’d have to use a tree stand limited you to one spot and wouldn’t allow a great deal of movement when you were hunting and this lack of flexibility is one of the main problems with traditional tree stands. Saddle hunting also gives hunters a level of precision when out hunting and taking a shot. When you’re attached to a tree, you’ll often be able to lean out at a 45-degree angle, which can allow for precise shot placement. Of course, you’ll want to be careful and make sure you’re properly secure before leaning at difficult angles to take shots, but when it’s done correctly, you’ll have more flexibility in where you place your shots.
StealthThere’s also an element of stealth when you’re high up in a tree waiting to take a shot. Deer won’t be able to spot you high up in a tree, and it may well be easier to stay quiet while up in a tree than it is when you’re on the ground. You can switch trees if you want to, trying to switch trees when you’re using a traditional tree stand can be a little difficult as it involves disassembling the entire stand and then assembling it again on another tree. Tree saddles also allow you to move around a tree, if you want to try out a shot at a specific angle then you can, when you’re in the saddle. As long as you’re safely secured you can try out different sizes of tree from large to small.
Hunting Saddle ComfortGenerally speaking, saddle hunting is comfortable, providing you have a high-quality saddle. One tip to make them more comfortable is to use a form of back support; you should be able to pick up a strap that will attach to your saddle or carabiner that’ll support your back. Traditionally, hunting saddles don’t come with back support, which can lead to a degree of back pain if you’re sitting in the wrong position for too long. You may find a tree saddle takes a bit of getting used to when you first use it, but with switching positions and making any necessary adjustments, you should be able to find a good level of comfort.
You Can Try out New SpotsOne of the great things about tree saddles is that they are so easy to move around. Due to how lightweight tree saddles are, all you have to do is attach them to your hunting pack, and you’re ready to go. If you’re used to hunting with a traditional tree stand, then you may know that it can be difficult to move it around when you want to. This problem is solved with a tree saddle as you can move it around easily and head to new hunting spots. This helps to keep your hunting experiences fresh, so if you’ve grown a bit bored or tired with the same old hunting spots then a tree saddle is a great way to expand your option and try something new.
Hunting Tree Saddle AffordabilityWhile prices can vary with different models of tree saddle, they can save you money in the long run. If you have numerous different spots where you aerially hunt, then before owning a tree saddle, you’d need a few different tree stands positioned in different locations, and costs can add up fast. By simpling this process and owning a single tree saddle, you won’t need as many pieces of equipment, and you can easily move your tree saddle from tree to tree. The hours of use you’ll get out a tree saddle are endless and a high-quality saddle will last for years.
Should You Swap Your Tree Stand for a Saddle? Many hunters have been using tree stands for years before deciding to try out a saddle. One of the biggest concerns hunters have with switching is comfort. As we described above, it can take some adjustments to get completely comfortable in a tree saddle, and you’ll want to make sure you can fit comfortably in one before you commit to buying one. If you know a friend or hunting partner who has a tree saddle, you could always ask to have a trial run before buying one for yourself. Tree saddles are also a lot easier to move around with than a traditional tree stand. If you’ve ever used a tree stand, you may well have hiked deep into a private lot or forest with a heavy backpack on and a tree stand attached to it. Tree saddles are very lightweight, and you’ll barely notice any added weight if you have one attached to your hunting pack.
Is a Tree Saddle Right for You?If you’re looking to make a change and try something new, then a tree saddle is definitely worth considering. Carrying around a heavy tree stand and attaching it to a tree can be a bit of a cumbersome process and can tire you out before you’ve even taken a shot. A tree stand solves this problem and gives you greater freedom of choice as to where you want to hunt. A tree saddle will also give you a new style of hunting to pursue and will stop you getting bored of bowhunting, so if you’ve never tried out tree hunting before, or if you’re looking for a new hobby to pursue, then consider purchasing a tree saddle and give saddle hunting a try. Both legs on the bipod have various options that allow you to extend or retract the legs as needed.
Magpul Grip Bipod

When the bipod is attached to your firearm, you’ll find a steel button that you can press to lock both legs of the bipod into place. The mounting plate can be attached using a screwdriver or an Allen key; it’s fairly easy to attach it and take it off as needed. If you run into any problems doing this, you can always check out the instruction manual included with the bipod to get an answer to any problems you’re facing. The bipod is intuitive, easy to use and has everything you need in an AR15 Foregrip.
The Best Value Bipod: Caldwell XLA Pivot BipodWhile the Magpul bipod is a fairly simplistic design, the Caldwell XLA Pivot bipod is more comprehensive and has a particularly menacing look. The legs of the bipod can be adjusted from 6 to 9 inches in length, and the bipod weighs around 12 ounces. The legs of the bipod fold up easily for easy transport and spring out with the push of a button. Each leg is equipped with rubber feet, so the bipod can be used on a variety of different surfaces without becoming unstable.

On each side of the bipod, you’ll see small buttons that allow you to retract the legs when you want them to come in and then push them forward, so they’re out of the way when you want to move around quickly. When you first take a look at the Caldwell, it can look a little harder to adjust than some of the other bipods we looked at, but looks can be deceiving, and the bipod is easy to use and easy to adjust. The bipod is fitted with a swivel stud, which means it can attach to almost any firearm with a swing swivel stud.

The bipod is made of hardened steel and aluminum, so it’s a durable, hardy bipod that is built to last. On the bottom of each leg, you’ll find large rubber feet that work to stabilize the bipod so that it can be used on a variety of different surfaces. This is particularly useful if you’re going to be using the bipod while you’re out hunting or if you’re on the move and will be shooting on uneven surfaces. The legs will also fold up, which again allows you to move the bipod and the gun it’s attached to easily and comfortably.
The Best Bipod for Military Use: UTG Shooter’s SWAT BipodThe UTG Shooter’s SWAT bipod is made of durable Aluminum, and one of the first things you’ll notice about this bipod is how sturdy it looks. The bipod comes with two different ways of mounting; you can use a Picatinny mount and a Swivel Stud mount to attach the bipod to your firearm. The bipod is low profile that allows for versatile use; on the bottom of each leg of the bipod; you’ll see rubber feet attached to both, which allow for the bipod to be used on even and uneven surfaces.

On each leg, you’ll see a button which you can press to collapse the legs when they’re extended. You can also push the legs up, and this allows you to move around with the bipod attached to your firearm. On the side of the bipod, you’ll also be able to configure how far apart you want each leg of the bipod to be away from each other. One downside to this bipod is that the rubber feet are quite small, so make sure the bipod is stable if you’re going to be using it on an uneven surface.
The Most Stylish Bipod: XAegis Carbon Fiber Rifle BipodWhile you may have come across plenty of bipods made from aluminum or steel, you may not have come across many that are made from carbon fiber. The XAegis bipod is designed to be soft on the outside but strong on the inside. The material of the bipod is lighter than aluminum, but the strength is higher than steel. Carbon fiber is generally difficult to rust, so if you take care of the XAegis bipod, then it should last for many years to come.

The pattern of the carbon fiber is a little more stylish than the standard matte black finish that a lot of bipods have. The bipod comes with an Allen key so you can adjust the Picatinny rail and take it on or off should you need to. At the bottom of each leg of the bipod, you’ll find rubber feet that enable the bipod to be used on even and uneven surfaces. You can extend the legs to five different positions, so you have a lot of control over the height that you need the bipod to be. You can mount the bipod forwards or backward, so you can really make sure that the bipod is in the correct position when you go to use it. It’s a lightweight bipod that’s easy to use and feels sturdy when you take a shot with your firearm.
The Most Flexible Bipod: Harris Bipods BRMSThe legs on the Harris bipods BRMS are extendable from 6 to 9 inches. You can adjust the legs on the bipod in 1-inch increments, so you have a lot of control over the height you want the bipod to be set at. What Do You Need to Look for in an AR15 Foregrip Bipod? After using and reviewing eight different bipods, the key factors that determine a high-quality bipod are ease of use and stability. When you’re shooting a firearm with a bipod, you want the bipod to provide you with a steady shot. Take note of how a bipod feels when you fire your weapon, if the bipod feels steady, then it will help you have a better and more accurate shot. If you’re firing an AR15, you’ll know how powerful the shot can be; it’s vitally important that your bipod keeps your firearm steady. If your bipod knocks over or moves, then you run the risk of firing a shot off in the wrong place, which can potentially injure or hurt someone close by. It’s pretty straightforward to tell if your foregrip is sturdy, when you attach the bipod to your firearm, does it feel stable? Does your firearm feel loose when it’s attached to your bipod? Does the bipod weigh your firearm down? These are the types of questions you should be asking when you’re looking to purchase a bipod. Most bipods are pretty easy to attach to a firearm, it’s always worth checking out the instruction manuals that come with the bipods, so you know how to attach and configure the bipod correctly. After you’ve configured your bipod you can start to learn how to use it correctly.
Material and WeightThe majority of the bipods we tested were either made from steel or aluminum; these materials are hard, durable, and built to last. We really liked the XAegis Carbon Filter bipod, the carbon fiber build makes it a bit more lightweight than the other bipods we’ve reviewed, and it’s undoubtedly the most stylish bipod we looked at. You want the bipod you buy to be lightweight. A lightweight bipod will allow you to move around swiftly with your firearm, with the bipod attached. This is essential if you’re going to be using a firearm in environments where you’ll need to be moving quickly, such as hunting or fast-paced target shooting. While we’ve focussed on AR15 bipods in this article, a lot of the bipods will fit other firearms as well. Make sure to check a bipod will fit your firearm before you decide to buy it.
How to Hold an AR-15 Foregrip BipodWhen you’re firing any gun, you want to make sure that the gun feels comfortable and secure when you take a shot. Where and how you grip your bipod can depend on the surface you’re shooting from. If you’re firing a gun on a flat, steady surface such as a tabletop, then you may not have to grip your bipod as you shoot. You’ll want to make sure that your firearm is nestled comfortably into your shoulder, so when you do take a shot, the recoil of the gun is tempered by the strength of your shoulder. If you’re firing from an uneven surface, then you may want to grip the bipod with your non-firing hand so it remains steady and doesn’t topple over when you take a shot. Shooting with a bipod can take some time to get used to, so don’t worry if it takes a few tries to perfect your shot.
Is an AR15 Foregrip Bipod Right for You?Our Winner: CVLife Rifle Bipod (5/5) A foregrip bipod is necessary if you’re going to be doing some shooting on uneven surfaces, or if you’re looking for something to steady your shot. As you can see, a good bipod should support your firearm and give you a cleaner, more accurate shot. All the foregrips we tested out were fairly straightforward to use and easy to attach. Before you decide which foregrip to go for, make sure you have in mind which kind of shooting activities you’ll be taking part in and how much you want to spend. When you know these things, you can decide which bipod to go for, and the CVLife Tactical Rifle bipod comes highly recommended.

Vortex Venom ReviewITIShooting.com Rating: (4.8/5) The Vortex Venom 6 MOA is a high-quality, fully multi-coated lense that offers a clean, wide field of view. The sight is 3 MOA, which means it will give you a precise point of aim and not cover up too much your target. Included with the sight are a mounting bracket, some screws, an Allen key, and a screwdriver, so you have all the equipment you need to fix the sight properly. A plastic cover is also included, which will protect the sight when you’re not using it. If you’re having any problems attaching the sight to your firearm, you can check out the instruction manual that’s included with the sight so you can make sure you can attach the sight correctly. You can use the sight in a variety of different conditions; it has ten different brightness settings to choose from.
Vortex Venom Red Dot Sight
Vortex Optics Venom Red Dot Sight - 3 MOA Dot
On the left-hand side of the sight, you’ll see an up and down arrow that allows you to adjust the brightness level of the sight. If you keep your finger held down on the downward arrow, the dot itself will switch off after a few seconds of your finger being on the downward arrow. Venom has also built in an auto-brightness mode that uses an ambient light sensor to control the intensity of the dot; this is a great feature as you won’t constantly have to change the brightness level manually if you go and shoot in different conditions. On the back of the sight you’ll see verticle adjustments for the red dot, and on the right-hand side of the sight, you’ll see similar adjustments that you can make if you need to adjust the sight for particular windage. When you use the sight, you’ll notice that the glass is very clear, this gives you great visibility and helps to improve the accuracy of your shot. There really isn’t anything not to like with the Vortex Venom Red Dot Sight, the only thing we noticed that took some time to get used to was the adjustment settings for the windage and the verticle settings on the back of the sight. These issues can easily be resolved by carefully reading the instruction manual. Apart from that, the sight is easy to use, it works well and comes highly recommended if you’re looking for a new red dot sight.
Pros and Cons
What we really like
✔ Clear glass sight makes for an accurate shot. ✔ Windage and Elevation dials allow you to adjust the sight to exactly how you want it. ✔ 10 brightness level settings, so you can use the sight in a variety of different weather and lighting conditions. ✔ The 3 MOA reticle doesn’t cover too much of the target, which makes it easier for a clear shot. ✔ A full instruction manual is included with the sight so you have full guidance on how to use and set up the sight.
What we don't like
✗ The windage and elevation dials can take some time to get used to. ✗ Battery sometimes doesn’t last as long as advertised.
Vortex Viper ReviewITIShooting.com Rating: (4.8/5) Differing slightly from the Vortex Venom is the Vortex Viper Red Dot Sight. The Viper’s low height allows it to co-align with iron sights to give you a clear, accurate shot. The sight features a 6 MOA red dot, which is easy to pick up and gets you on target fast. The sight has a 14-hour auto shut off on the battery, so if you do forget to turn the sight off after you use it, it will switch off automatically after 14 hours.
Vortex Viper Red Dot Sight
Vortex Optics Viper Red Dot Sight - 6 MOA Dot
If you’re using the Viper on its lowest setting then the battery should last around 30,000 hours before it needs replacing, if kept on its highest setting, you’ll get 150 hours of battery life from the sight. As with most Vortex sights, the Viper comes with a protective cover to keep the sight secure and safe when you’re not using it. Vortex also includes a cleaning cloth with the sight so you can keep the sight clean as and when you need to. Also included with the sight are all the tools you need to be able to attach the sight to your firearm, such as an Allen key, screwdriver, and screws. Although the sight is primarily designed for pistols, the mounting stand that comes with the sight allows you to attach the larger firearms such as shotguns or AR’s. As with most Vortex sights, the Viper lens is highly-durable with a low-glare matte finish so you won’t get any reflection or glare from the sun in your eyes if you’re using the Viper in bright conditions. Included with the Viper is a full instruction manual so you can always look up the best way to set up the sight or make any adjustments to it.
Pros and Cons
What we really like
✔ Lots of accessories included with the sight, so you can set up the sight exactly how you want it. ✔ The sight is compatible with most pistols and a variety of other large weapons. ✔ Good battery life and an auto-shutoff feature so you have peace of mind should you forget to turn the sight off after use. ✔ The Low-glare finish on the sight will prevent you from getting sun or light glare in your eyes as you use the sight.
What we don't like
✗ The protective cover can be a little tight around the sight when you place it on. ✗ The battery sometimes doesn’t last as long as advertised (it can be a little difficult to tell how long the battery will last when you’re changing the brightness on the sight)
Comparing the Two: Which Sight Is Better? As you can see, both Vortex sights are high-quality products that will fit well onto any pistol you’re using. Any quality red dot sight is easy to use, easy to attach, and should improve the accuracy of your shot. There’s plenty of resources available out there to give you more information about the different sight systems that are available on different red dot sights, and what you should look out for. Both of these Vortex sights encompass everything you should look out for in a high-quality red dot sight. With this in mind, let’s take a look at some of the features of both sights and how they compare.
Vortex Venom Battery LifeThe batteries on both sights last a good amount of time. On the highest brightness settings on both sights, you’ll get around 30,000 hours of continuous battery life, while on the highest brightness setting, expect around 150 hours of battery life. The easiest way to preserve battery life with both sights is to switch them off each time you finish using them. Both sights will switch off if they are left inactive for a period of 14 hours, this ensures that the battery life of each sight will be preserved and won’t go flat should you forget to switch off the sight after use. The length of time the battery lasts on both sites is very impressive; Vortex really ensures that the customer is taken care of and that you get value for money. By not having to replace the battery, often, you’re safe in the knowledge that you can use the sight for long periods of time before having to think about replacing the battery.
Brightness SettingsYou can adjust the level of brightness on both sights by pressing the up/down arrows located on the left-hand side of each sight. Both sights have ten different brightness levels, giving you a good measure of control over the conditions you choose to shoot in and the accuracy of your shot. As mentioned above, the brightness levels you choose will also determine how long the battery of the sight will last. Again Vortex has done a great job of giving the user a high level of control over the brightness of the sight. With ten different settings to choose from, you have a great level of choice, and you can be confident that you’re able to use the sight in a variety of different weather conditions.
AccessoriesEach sight comes with a host of different accessories, with both sights you’ll find Allen keys and screws that’ll allow you to attach a mounting stand to your firearm. Although both sights are primarily designed for pistols, the mounting stand allows the sights to be attached to larger firearms such as shotguns and ARs. Vortex does a great job of including everything you need to get started with using their products straight away. Both sights are suitable for the beginner and the experienced shooter. If it’s your first time buying a red dot sight, then it may take some time to get used to how to configure it correctly and how to shoot with a red dot sight. If you’re in need of professional help, you can always head down to your local gun store for proper advice on how you can get the most of the sight you decide to buy.
Other Things to ConsiderThe strength of the red dot on the Vortex Viper is stronger than the Venom. The MOA of the red dot on the Viper is 6, while on the Venom, it is 3. Still, though, both red dots are clearly visible, and if you get the windage and elevation settings correct, both red dots make for a clear, accurate shot. Both sights are very lightweight as they’re both small in size, so they don’t weigh down your firearm at all, and you can move freely and easily with either sight attached to your gun. Both sights are finished in matte black and will look stylish when attached to your firearm. As we’ve already mentioned, both these sights are suitable whether you’re a complete beginner to shooting and firearms, or you’re a seasoned pro.
Vortex Viper vs Venom: The Final WordBoth sights are high-quality, and it’s very difficult to separate the two. Most of the time, when we review sights, there’s a clear winner in which one is better. But in this case, it’s impossible to choose a winner. Both sights are easy to use, look good, durable, and fit a lot of different firearms. What it goes to show is that Vortex produces the best sights on the market, and their sights are very difficult to beat on price. They’ve hit the sweet spot in producing high-quality red dot sights that don’t break the bank. Whichever red dot sight you choose to go for out of the Vortex Venom or the Vortex Viper, you’ll be buying a high-quality product that will enhance your shooting experience!
